During these hot, dry days, please would anyone watering lawns, hedges, plants at the club, please make sure you turn the tap on full.
As you may know, we have an irrigation system on site allowing us to collect and distribute our own water. This keeps mains water supply usage to a minimum.
There are several access points to this water. It may be tempting to reduce the flow but unfortunately this can cause the water pump to overwork itself and blow a fuse!
Thanks for reading this, and if you know of volunteers who may not see it, please ask them to turn the tap on full to stop this problem occurring. It can take valuable time to fix and in the meantime there will be not water at all.
With the changes in Government guidelines we are allowing limited opening of our facilities.
The clubhouse and washrooms will remain CLOSED but the tennis courts will be open for members from today in accordance with the LTA guidelines. Bowls & Croquet are still awaiting clarification of details from their association. Bowls are planning towards a limited opening of the green on Saturday 23rd May whilst Croquet plan to open under restricted conditions on 18th May based on advice from the Croquet Association.
Details of the limitations will be issued by each section as details will differ for the different sports, but they will have the common theme of the safety of the members and the maintenance of the social distancing. We ask all our members to abide by the instructions and also ensure that you remind other members if you are concerned about their interpretation. A full risk assessment is being undertaken by the various sections, and please note the club will not hesitate to close the facilities again should the guidelines be broken or circumstances change.
It looks like we will not be able to open the Clubhouse for a while yet but at least we can start to use some of our facilities. To celebrate we are holding a FLASH SALE to help clear our BAR STOCK in readiness for a full resumption of services.

We hope that this post finds you and your families well. We have been eagerly waiting for the Prime Minister to give some indication about when we can re-open the lawns and the tennis courts. The information regarding our sports is still extremely unclear and hence we need to now wait for our Governing Bodies to give us precise instructions on when and how we can open for outdoor play. We can then plan and put practical solutions in place. We will let you know as soon as possible, but in the meantime all lawns, rinks and courts remain closed.
Consistent with current government and LTA guidance (20/03/20), the clubhouse at Ember Sports Club is closed from today until further notice. This includes visiting the washrooms and changing rooms.
Our tennis courts, remain open for
play, while plans for the activities on the Bowling Green and the Croquet Lawn
will be continually reviewed by the section committees. This may change at short notice.
Guidelines on playing tennis will be
emailed to all members and posted on the tennis section of the website.
Tennis members may bring visitors to
play, but they must ensure these visitors respect the social distancing
guidelines and wash their hands. Please ask them to pay the visitors fee
to you, and please transfer via BACS and using the reference Guest fee.

SUBSCRIPTIONS FOR 2020
the time of year that we have to set the subscription level for the coming
year. The club, as many of you know, is
running at a small deficit and has put the club part of the subscription up £4. The tennis club has invested in 4 new courts
and floodlights in the last year, and despite getting a substantial pay out
from the insurance company, have a much reduced sinking fund and much larger
maintenance costs for the courts, especially the clay courts. We have taken the difficult decision to raise
the tennis subscription (there was no raise last year) by the price of a pint
(2 pints at the club bar) for the year. This does work out at only 10.7p per
week over the year. I do hope you will
all understand and continue your membership.

social events you would be interested in?
Increase member participation in free coaching, mix-ins, and social events

Possible social events – Ladies evening (Indian theme again?), Spring event for members, Bank holiday tournaments, Christmas tournament and party, BBQ
Club tournament (doubles partners to change after 2 wins in a row)
