Ember’s Social Distancing Bowls was off to a prompt, if quiet, start at the stroke of midday on Saturday.
Ember’s Green is now open for Bowls, subject to Social Distancing Rules. If you want to participate you will need to book a rink. Full details of how you may use the Green under Social Distancing rules are here and the page will give you a link to the booking system.
Please note that the Clubhouse and Changing Rooms remain closed.
It looks like we will not be able to open the Clubhouse for a while yet but at least we can start to use some of our facilities. To celebrate we are holding a FLASH SALE to help clear our BAR STOCK in readiness for a full resumption of services.

Just to let you know that a small group of volunteer workers are keeping our Green in playable condition while the club is in lock-down. It is being cut three times a week, aerated once a week and sprayed & irrigated regularly to feed, weed and treat it against disease and fungal attack. The pictures above were taken over last weekend. Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen.
Mike would appreciate any additional help he can get, particularly with the spraying and irrigation. It’s not too physical but does require a methodical approach and a bit of patience. Working on the Green is allowed under the Government rules so, if you fancy a break from your own four walls, why not give him a call on 020 8398 4549.
Work started this morning to install an effective root barrier to prevent further damage to the Green from the neighbouring Leylandii hedge. The work will take a couple of days and involves digging a narrow trench, cutting existing roots and installing the barrier to prevent further ingress. Some of the larger roots can be seen laid on the tarpaulin. Afterwards new turf will be laid in readiness for play next season.
Ladies, clear your diaries for Wednesday 18th March. Captain Anna Hughes invites you to join her and your fellow lady bowlers, old and new, at La Orient, Esher, for the traditional pre-season lunch. Get there for midday to sit at 12:30pm. More details from Anna or in our newsletter.
