On Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th March we are having some work done on extending the paving in front of the clubhouse.
The path to the clubhouse will be open as will access via the ramp.
The access to courts 1, 2 and 3 is likely to be through the gate on court 3, depending on the stage of the work.
Please take care and bear with us while we get the work done. It should be completed in 2 days.
A fine Sunday evening looking out onto the terrace and bowling green at Ember Sports Club. Looking forward to a summer refreshment sitting out here watching the evening league…
Lovers of live jazz had a treat last Saturday when Louise Marshall led the Ember Big Band in our clubhouse – a great opportunity to shake off the January blues.

A happy new year to all our tennis, bowls, croquet, drama and social members. Here’s to a great 2023!
A great event coming up – “In The Footsteps of Shackleton”, a lunch followed by a talk on Shackleton’s adventures by Martin Thomas. To book email emberjane2@btinternet.com or phone 07768 632684. Bookings open January 2nd and are £15pp.
Please take are at Ember Sports Club in this icy weather. The white painted edge of the veranda is very, very slippery in the wet and the icy conditions. Please avoid stepping on it. It is best to use the ramp to enter the clubhouse from the tennis end. The paths around the club may also be slippery so be very careful.
The tennis courts may be icy too – if the conditions allow and you do decide to play, please note this is at your own risk.
Take care, stay warm and safe
Ember retained the SECF B League this year, having also won in 2019 and 2021.
Internal Competitions were won by:
Roger Stearn, beating Simon Charrington, in the AC Open Singles
The GC Singles Handicap Knockout reached the semi-final stage but could not be completed this season. We will resume in April 2023.
The only other trophy presented at last week’s AGM was the “Most Improved Player”, which is based on improved handicap points. Simon Charrington retained the trophy, below.
The new windows at the bowls end of the clubhouse have finally been installed and are looking great. Roll on the new season (and the good weather!).
