We had a great open day today at Ember, with record numbers of keen tennis, bowls, croquet and drama enthusiasts coming down to have a go and find out more about the club. Thanks to all the Ember members who made it such a great day! If you didn’t make it, but still want to find out more about what we do and how to join, take a look at our membership page.
Currently there are two Tennis Xpress coaching sessions run each week for adult beginner / improvers on Tuesdays 10-11.30am and Saturdays 1.30 – 2.30pm (on courts 6 and 7). These sessions have been arranged as part of an initiative to attract new adult members. Players use green balls – a low compression tennis ball that helps novice players to develop their skills more quickly. If any member is interested or knows an adult who may be interested to join one of these groups, they should contact Rob Blundell (firstname.lastname@example.org). To develop this initiative, there is now a green ball mix-in for adult beginner / improvers on Tuesday evenings at 7.30-9pm. This is a session without coaching to allow inexperienced players to practise with each other.
Junior tennis at Ember is all about developing your tennis skills to the highest standards through creative play and competition. The club offers a variety of junior sessions throughout the year and welcomes new junior members.
With the improving weather, all members are informed that the ball machine is now available for use; please remember not to use it with wet balls as they cause damage to this very valuable piece of equipment.
This will be held on Saturday 26th April, also the day for our manual ballot for the Wimbledon Championship tickets; cakes and biscuits will be available, with any voluntary donations going to the MacMillan Nursing Association.
