From the BBC: The 'barefooters' giving bowls a new vibe

Interesting article on the rise of bowls in Australia!

“Think of lawn bowls, and you will probably imagine elderly men and women in white, competing in sombre silence. But in Australia the game is being taken over by the young and the hip – who want to have fun and walk barefoot on the grass.”

Bowls: Friday League Update

Double Rinks

Unfortunately we lost 26-51 (18-20 & 8-31) at Weybridge skipped by Charlie Souter and Chris Ions.  This league looks like being very competitive and will be quite a challenge for us this year. Every team has won a match and at least 6 of the 7 teams have already lost a match (possibly all 7 after yesterday’s matches).

We have 1 win and 2 losses and are currently bottom on shots difference.

Single Rinks

We managed an excellent 19-13 victory at Oxshott, skipped by Bob Campbell to give us a perfect start of 3 wins and no losses. West End and Oatlands Park were also unbeaten in the top division prior to yesterday’s matches. Well done Dennis, Malcolm, Dave and Colin.
