Bowls Stats Part 1: Who’s won what?

At Ember Bowls club we keep a record of every bowls winner in our big presentation book in the clubhouse.

I thought it would be an interesting idea to see if we could analyse some of the winners info in this book and see if I could find out some facts and figures about our illustrious bowlers over the years.

This is some of what I found, using data from when records began until 2016.

Who has won the Women’s Singles (Dussek Cup) the most (1952-2016)?

From the chart below, Jenny Baird is tied with Mrs. P. Dominy for the most wins in the Women’s Singles Competition with nine each!

Who has won the Men’s Singles (Lewis Cup) the most (1951-2016)?

John Garland is the clear winner on ten titles, with Nick Hayley, Mike Cutts and F. Hunter taking second spot equally with five apiece. Not far behind are Jerry Ingham, D. Ingham and P. Green on four each!

Who has won the Men’s Handicap Singles (Rainbow Cup) the most (1955-2016)?

J. Caiger comes out as the winner with six titles, followed closely by John Garland and G. Weiss on five each.

(The cup was not contested in 2000/20001)
