Competitive and Social Play

Club Night Roll-Up

At Ember there is something for everyone!

For the competitive players a number of ladies’, men’s, and mixed teams enter into the various Surrey and North West Surrey individual knock-out competitions.  Club players have been very successful in these latter events in recent seasons.  Ember teams also compete in a number of leagues against other local clubs and we have also been running our own invitation triples competition (the “Coronation Triples”) for local clubs since 1953.  For more details of our competitive play please click External Competitions.
Every year we hold a number of internal club competitions which are keenly contested.  Our current program contains
Men’s Singles Championship             Men’s Handicap Singles
Ladies’ Single Championship             Ladies’ Handicap Singles
Men’s Pairs Championship                 Men’s Drawn Pairs Handicap
Ladies’ Pairs Championship               Ladies’ Drawn Pairs Handicap
Mixed Pairs Championship                Open Drawn Pairs Handicap (for Men & Ladies)
Men’s Drawn Triples                         Men’s Two Wood Singles
Ladies’ Drawn Triples                        Ladies’ Two Wood Singles
Non Winners Competition                 Mixed Drawn Two Wood Triples
In addition we run an Evening Mixed Triples league throughout the season; this has proved to be very popular for members of all standards. Inexperienced bowlers particularly find this an excellent, gentle introduction to competitive play.  Details of this year’s league matches are here.
A full programme of “friendly” Ladies’, Men’s and Mixed matches is arranged against other local clubs which provides regular competitive play in a social atmosphere. These matches are for club players of all abilities.  To see our current year’s fixtures program and results to date, see Bowls Scores
For the less competitive club members who just want to enjoy a game with their friends, Club “roll-up” sessions are held on weekday afternoons. There is also a Club Night “roll-up” session which is held every Monday evening and which provides a social focus to the Club’s activities.
To view details of our weekly calendar of social play and regular organised events please see Club Activities.
