Two Wins – Two Losses
In true Ember fashion we had excellent support from the many club members who came to Egham to support our players who had made it through to the North West Surrey Bowling Association’s finals.
It is always great to have friendly supportive faces in the crowd and the odd clap or cheer for a good bowl and all our bowlers would like to thank those who came for either the morning or in several cases the whole day.
So how did they get on?…
Dave Bardsley and Dick Jones secured an excellent 16-12 victory over a strong Egham Pair with Dave having a particularly good match. This was the first time that NWS had staged an Aussie Pairs competition so they will be the first names on the cup.
Surprisingly this was a very one sided match with our four of Jenny Baird, Jackie Cornwell, John Garland and Mike Cutts winning 24-6 after only 12 ends when Knaphill conceded. All four of our players had very good games and outbowled their opposite numbers.
Linda Pillman lost 14-21 to Charlotte Emanuel of Egham but put up a brave fight after going 6-0 down but found her opponent too strong on her favourite home rink.. All rinks had been drawn by the Umpire..
Our triple of Sylvia Jones, Jackie Cornwell (sub for Pat Roddis) and Linda Pillman went down 15-18 to a strong Oxshott triple. They recovered really well from a 4-14 deficit with a 5 and a 3 to reach 12-14 but Oxshott just held on, their lead having an excellent match.
