We play both association and golf croquet

The Ember Croquet Club is affiliated to the sport’s governing body, The Croquet Association. Croquet is played to Croquet Association Rules. This is not the simple game of hitting a ball through a hoop in the garden, but a sophisticated competitive sport – a cross between snooker and chess played in the open air!

Both Association Croquet and Golf Croquet are played at the club. Golf Croquet is less tactically demanding and more sociable, and is often preferred by less experienced players, whereas Association Croquet is more mentally interesting, appealing to more experienced players.

The Club welcomes men and women of all standards from complete novices to accomplished tournament players. Both Association and Golf Croquet have handicap systems and every club member has a handicap which is kept under review. This enables players of widely differing abilities to enjoy playing against each other on level terms.

Free coaching by CA-qualified coaches is available to all members to help them improve their game.
